A Note

FROM Pastor Casey

Hey everybody, it’s actually getting warmer. The great thaw is about to happen. Hoorah, for mud season! Or at least the spring weather.

I love spring because everything starts to come alive again, including the people around us. Have you ever noticed how people smile a lot more, they’re a lot friendlier and courteous when winter starts to break and warmer weather is on the horizon? I think there is an underlying spiritual principle we can all learn from this. Let me explain. When the sun shines, the world is a warmer and happier place. Most of us, if not all of us would agree to that truth. The spiritual parallel to that statement is this: in much the same way, when the Son shines through us, in our day-to-day life, it makes the world a warmer and better place. Even cloudy days seem better when you’re around someone who beams with the love of Christ. Optimism, forgiveness, understanding and compassion are so contagious. They’re some of the few things in life actually worth catching.

Since we all just celebrated Easter and Jesus being alive, His life should be seen in us. Here are 10 tips on how you can be a ray of Son-shine even on the grayest of days:

1) Forgive as you have been forgiven.
2) Love because He has first loved you.
3) Show compassion to those hurting.
4) Be more concerned with others than yourself.
5) Listen more, speak less.
6) Rejoice with those who rejoice.
7) Weep with those who weep. (Yes even weeping with someone can bring encouragement and strength)
8) Invest yourself in the future instead of wallowing in the past.
9) Always look for the bright side.
10) Smile, God can handle it.

Psalm 37:5,6

5Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: 6He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

Jesus is alive and so faithful. Be a part of what He is doing, and like the old New Boys song says, “Shine”. Until next month, I love you, and I’ll see you on Sunday nights.

Shining,

Pastor Casey
